A Timeline of Excellence

1978

PCL Solutions was founded in 1978 as Package Care Ltd to source packaging machinery and materials for the MJF Group, Sri Lanka’s leading exporter of branded tea under Dilmah. Merrill J. Fernando, the founder of MJF Group created Dilmah. His vision to make Dilmah a global giant, he knew that packaging would play a vital role. In order to do so he created Package Care Ltd. Today, PCL Solutions continues that legacy by driving innovation across industries with trusted technology and expertise.

1983

Expanding our machinery portfolio covering the tea industry, we started supplying advanced solutions including tea bagging, overwrapping and shrink tunnel machines.

1986

Moved into material handling equipment and food industry machinery.

1990

Introduced needle detectors to the apparel industry and established the Engineering Department to ensure reliable after-sales service and technical support.

2008

On the 30th Anniversary, Package Care expanded into new sectors including Healthcare and Dental, Automotive, Green Technology, Sports & Industrial Flooring. This milestone also marked the launch of Sri Lanka’s first-ever dual chamber mobile incinerator for medical waste.

2009

Positioning PCL Solutions as a trusted “one-stop shop” for comprehensive support to manufacturers across industries.

2010

PCL Solutions launched its Marine and Environmental Protection division, introducing Sri Lanka’s first oil skimmers, containment booms, and accessories to manage inland and offshore oil spill incidents. PCL also introduced Plastic Pallets and Plastic Crates under Material Handling Division.

Introduction of Post-Harvest Technology.

2013

Commercial care market with tailored matting option.

2014

PCL Solutions diversified into sports technology by introducing Sri Lanka’s first-ever liquid flooring technology, inspired by Wimbledon standards. This milestone included the successful launch of tennis and basketball courts using advanced liquid Technology.

Launch of Aquatain, a “Non-chemical action” for mosquito control.

2017

Launch of a new generation Crematoria with modernized no smoke option and single chamber ash dispenser.

2018

Launch of Nano Technology products. IdeaPaint is a high-performing dry erase paint, transforms virtually any smooth surface into an erasable canvas.

2020

PCL Solutions launched its Retail sector importing globally recognized brands, Casio and Camlin.

2021

Introduction of Kodak batteries in Sri Lanka partnering with Strand Europe Ltd.

2024

Expanded across multiple industries with several significant products,

• Premium food grade flavoring solutions from Essential Flavors, No 1 flavor house in Australia.
• Kanex staple machines, scissors and punches strengthening our retail sector.
• Tea Harvesters and Tea Trimmers supporting Agriculture and Plantation Industry.
• Re-launched IMA Tea Bagging machines.

2025

Introduced LifePak’s innovative composite cans.

Expanding STIHL Machinery operation in Sri Lanka.

Launching of Canadian Crystalline ; Water Bottling, Sterilization, Can Filling Lines, Labelling, Sea Water Desalination

Microbrewery from Prodeb Brewery, India
